There are four parts to creating a Comic Book. 1) Writing: Well obviously I can't write good :P. 2) Pencils: Negative on the Penciling Skill 3) Inking: Now here we go. In essance, Inking is taking the penciller's work and bringing the blacks to life, while cleaning those extra pesky lines that don't need to be there. 4) Color: Here's my so-called "Bag Baby!". In essance, my job is to take the Penciller/Inker's ideas and expand upon them with tools like Color Theory, Grads, Cut-Outs, ext.

Inking Work

Whilst not being my favorite process in a comic, Inking is both nesscesary and time-consuming. Inking takes a lot more than tracing over the pencillers work: it takes a special eye to bring out elements that need more contrast, and take it away from parts that don't (among other things). It takes awhile to learn how to Ink, and its not for everyone, but there is a decent amount of reward involved when you can look at your work compared to the original pencils, and know that you brought out the hidden gem of the pencils.

Flatting Work

Some may argue the most arduous and time consuming part of a colorist's job is working the flats. For the non-colorist's out there, flats are basically used for separating out elements on a page in order to quickly select them later in the coloring process. When I do my flats, I usually work in Grayscale so that I can later adjust the colors without being tempted to use the flat's color. But as a Flatter for Hire, I can do most anything a colorist needs done, and have an uncanny attention to detail. If your a Colorist looking for a Flatter, head over to the Info Page and get in contact with me.

Photomanipulation

Ahh, taking a still image and creating something different/better from it. In Photomanipulation, sure your limited as an artist, but I don't like to let that stop me from creating some awesome stuff. "Who would hire a Photomanipulator Talon?". Well look on your Cosmo or Vogue. There isn't a picture in there that hasn't been edited in some form of another. Let's say a Model has a pimple during the shoot.... My job is to remove that, bring out her skin tones, change the viewers focus, and MANY other tiny details. Next time you open up a magazine with models in it, look at those pictures and try to spot what has been changed by a Photomanipulator.

Web Design

You want to see some of my Web Design stuff? Well look at the site! Everything here, I designed, coded, and implemented. But above are some of my works as an Iconist. Web Design has moved over the years from just coding the HTML, to create beautiful layouts that appeal to people. I like to think that I am apart of this new wave of Web Designers. Some of the stuff above is from 6 years ago. They are far from perfect, but I still keep them up as a reminder of my "roots".
