The Amazing Spider-Man 471
Pencils by J. Scott Campbell, Inks by Tim Townsend, Color by Me

Thanks to SeanE for the Lineart, and obviously Campbell and Townsend for the solid Pencils and Inks.
When I started working this, I thought I’d go with the generic Grey for the webs. But creativity and color theory quickly took hold of my hand, and I decided to add a little complementary yellow and red to the webs. The part I had the most trouble with was the background. It took me an extra 2 hours of experimentation till I finally came up with the soft gradient. Since Campbell penciled so much detail into it, I felt that using too many cutouts would take away from the realism, so I stuck with mostly grads. Let me know what you think, and head over to Magmoman.com for some of my other work

Vagrant Story

Most of the pieces I color, I do because I have a connection with the material. And Vagrant Story is no exception. It was an amazing game from back during the Golden Age of PSX RPG’s. There are a few technical flaws I know, but I didn’t end up fixing them because a) it didn’t fit with the context of the piece, or b) because I’m anal retentive, and I had to make myself finish it or it would never be done. A cool little trick I picked up when messing with the flames was (only temporarily) rendering them in 32bits per channel… very useful for strong light sources. Obviously I didn’t work the whole piece in this mode though. But its always an interesting technique for “finalizing” a piece. Anyway, be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think . Magmoman…. Out!
